It’s always exciting when a fan favourite returns and this one is no different. Miguel Almiron is set to rejoin Atlanta United five years after he departed for Newcastle United.
Almiron’s time at Newcastle has been a rollercoaster, with the Paraguayan contributing 30 goals and 12 assists across 222 appearances in all competitions.
However, his recent playing time has dwindled, and he has yet to find the back of the net this season.
As his contract nears its June 2026 expiration date, the buzz around his future has intensified.

Now, SportsMole reports that a deal has been struck for Almiron to return to Atlanta United for an approximately £10 million transfer fee.
Almiron initially lit up the field for Atlanta between 2016 and 2019, netting 22 goals and 21 assists in 70 games.
The news of Almiron’s return comes as Atlanta United begins preseason training under new head coach Ronny Deila.
Deila, known for his focus on fitness and aggressive play, aims to turn Atlanta into the fittest team in the league.
The addition of a player of Almiron’s caliber could be just what Atlanta needs to regain its momentum after a recent playoff exit.
