Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce who “gives confidence to goal keepers” is being tipped to become the best goalkeeper in the world.
This season, Tullis-Joyce has been a phenomenon for Manchester United women, conceding just six goals in 14 games while keeping nine clean sheets.
Her save percentage of 86.4% is among the best in the Women’s Super League (WSL). Based on statistics, she has prevented the most goals in the division.
Her journey to this achievement has been rocky though. She was undrafted in the 2019 NWSL Draft and later moved to Stade de Reims in France.
After two years, she joined Seattle Reign FC and played 47 games before signing for Manchester United in 2023. Her clutch performances have made her one of the WSL’s best shot-stoppers.
Marc Skinner praises Tullis-Joyce
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, United head coach Marc Skinner praised her, saying she has all the qualities to become the best.
“I’ve worked with some incredible goalkeepers, but she has agility and athleticism that few can match,” Skinner said. “She comes up big when we need her, and she gives confidence to our defenders.”
Skinner highlighted her persistent vow to improve.
“She’s a student of the game. She constantly improves, and her attitude is fantastic. That’s why we brought her to Manchester United,” Skinner added. “She has come through tough times and keeps getting better. Statistically, she can be the best goalkeeper in the world.”

Overlooked by National Team Despite Club Success
Despite her form, Hayes ignored her for the U.S. national team. Instead, she called up Jane Campbell and Mandy McGlynn. However, Tullis-Joyce still traveled to the U.S. as a training player.
Her impressive stats this season back her case for more recognition: nine clean sheets, six goals conceded, and an 86.4% save rate. She has also made eight high claims and completed 46 accurate long balls.
Tullis-Joyce has already overcome many challenges in her career and is proving herself in England.
She continues to improve with every game. If her form continues, it will be hard for Hayes to ignore her.
For now, she remains focused on helping Manchester United win the WSL title and maintain a trajectory toward becoming the world’s best.
