It’s no secret that Arsenal are looking for a star player to lead the team from the front.

Last season, Arsenal missed the premier league trophy because they could not find the back of the net in some crucial matches, especially around December 2023 when they played Westham at home and Fulham away.

These two losses were primarily connected to a lack of natural goal-scorers in the squad.

However, Arsenal want to put that behind them as they are currently in the market scouting for a better striker.

Amid this, they have been connected with several strikers, including Viktor Gyokeres, and Alexander Isak, among others.

The latest entry in the past week is Julian Alvarez of Manchester City, who might just actualize despite the €70 million attached to his release clause.

The player himself has shown interest in leaving Manchester City, given that there is no way he can compete serial goal scorer in the name of Erling Haarland.

While transfer rumours link Julian Alvarez with Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has sent a pleding message to the Argentine striker.

Alvarez, who joined Manchester City from River Plate in 2022, has become a valuable member of the team club, scoring 36 goals in the past two seasons.

However, game time seems to be the most important thing for the Argentinian, which has prompted the rumours.

What Guardiola said

During a recent press conference following City’s 4-2 pre-season victory over Chelsea, Guardiola addressed the transfer rumours head-on.

Guardiola stated via Metro UK,

“I count on him. He will come back, and we will start to work together. What happens in the meantime, I have a thousand million things to think about the team”.

Alvarez has been in Paris with Argentina’s Olympics squad but is set to return to Manchester soon after having some rest.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who has previously signed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from City, is looking to improve the attacking options further.

Regardless of the interest from rival clubs, Guardiola’s message is clear: Alvarez is a valued member of the Manchester City squad.

He praised Alvarez’s contributions and expressed confidence in his ability to continue making a significant impact.

“I’m sure when he comes back, I’ll hug and congratulate him for the Copa America, for the Olympics, and we will start to work together.”

Getting Alvarez might not be easy, given that Guardiola’s latest comments suggest that the Argentine forward is still a valuable member of the City team next season.
