Gnanalingam’s apology
Following the backlash, Gnanalingam issued an apology through LAFC, acknowledging the impact of his actions.
“I deeply regret that content shared on my social media account has caused distress and concern. It was never my intention to offend or harm anyone, and I take responsibility for not exercising greater caution before sharing these posts. I sincerely apologize to those affected, including my colleagues, friends, and family.”
Gnanalingam further emphasized his commitment to unity and diversity, stating that he had removed the reposts and would step away from social media to focus on his professional duties.
“As someone who values unity, diversity, and respect for all people, I take full responsibility for my actions. I have decided to step away from social media for the foreseeable future to ensure my communication reflects the values and high standards expected of me as a global business leader.”
Gnanalingam also expressed his willingness to work closely with MLS, LAFC, QPR, and other organizations to improve his approach to public communication.
The MLS investigation into the matter remains ongoing, with potential consequences for the LAFC co-owner yet to be determined.
