York United have acquired the services of ex-Toronto FC II captain and top scorer Julian Altobelli.
The Canadian Premier League reports that the 22-year-old forward has signed a one-year deal with an option for another year.
Altobelli had a season to remember for TFC II in 2024, finding the back of the net 11 times and assisting four times in MLS NEXT Pro.
He signed for Toronto FC academy in 2014 at just 11 years old. During a ten-year period, he enhanced his soccer abilities, playing 94 matches for TFC II, where he scored 21 goals and provided 11 assists.
His return to York United has been made possible because His contract expired at the end of 2024.
Altobelli previously signed with York United in 2020 but never made any impact because of the COVID-19 disruptions.

Now, he returns more experienced, mature, and with a vibrant vision for success.
“I’m super excited to be back,” Altobelli told Waking the Red. “When I came here for the first time, I was only 17 years old. I didn’t have any experience and didn’t know what to expect. Moving to TFC and getting a taste of training with the first team, playing so much with TFC II… I’m coming back here as a man now. I feel like I’m ready for this opportunity and excited to get to work.
York United needed attacking reinforcements following Brian Wright’s and Mo Babouli’s departures to Forge FC. Altobelli is eager to fill that void and make a notable impact.
“I want to win,” he added. “Bringing this club its first championship is my goal. I want to score goals, provide assists, and make the fans proud.”
Altobelli’s return adds both skill and leadership to York United.
York United will look to benefit from his form as they gear up for a competitive season ahead.
