Arsenal fans have much to celebrate as the team continues its strong start to the Premier League season.
The Gunners are flying high with two wins in two matches.
But beyond the results, there’s growing excitement over the expanding list of world-class players at the Emirates.
Last season, the omission of Bukayo Saka from Rio Ferdinand’s list of elite players sparked debate.
Still, Arsène Wenger quickly defended Saka, praising his consistent impact on games.
Now, Arsenal’s roster seems to have gained another world-class name.
During Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa, Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey secured the goals, but goalkeeper David Raya’s performance stole the spotlight.
Aston Villa had several chances to score, but Raya’s stunning save to deny Ollie Watkins after a deflection off the crossbar left fans—and even rival supporters—stunned.
This wasn’t just a routine save; it was the kind of moment that turns games on their heads.
Arsenal invested around £27 million this summer to make Raya’s loan from Brentford permanent, and that decision is already paying off.

Gary Lineker calls Raya world-class
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Gary Lineker couldn’t hide his admiration, calling Raya “absolutely world-class.”
Lineker praised Mikel Arteta for making the bold decision to bring in Raya last year, a move that puzzled many at the time.
“Mikel Arteta is clearly not frightened of making big decisions.”
“This time last year we were questioning why he was bringing in David Raya but you have to say he looks one hell of a goalkeeper.
“He made a sensational save last week and he did the same against Aston Villa. How quick did he get up from off the ground to keep out Ollie Watkins to make that save? It’s absolutely world-class.”

That save alone cements Raya’s status as a world-class goalkeeper. Had Watkins scored, the outcome of the match could have been very different.
It’s hard not to feel for Aaron Ramsdale, who has done nothing wrong but now finds himself warming the bench. However, Raya’s consistency and crucial saves have made it impossible to keep him out of the starting lineup.
